Welcome to our Architect Spotlight series, where we will be periodically featuring each of Kennebec’s preferred architects and showcasing some of their past projects. Today we are highlighting Atlanta, GA based architect, Keith Summerour.
Biography:
Led by principal Keith Summerour, Summerour Architects is a group of experienced design professionals out of Atlanta, Georgia. As a native of Birmingham, AL and a graduate of Auburn University, Keith Summerour has a lot to offer his clients and staff that’s in large part due to his travel experience not only in the U.S., but Italy, England and Germany, as well. Summmerour Architects has built and designed homes all over the country with the heart of their creations in the Southeastern United States. They were not only featured in the September/October Issue of Traditional Home in 2018, but they also made the cover! In addition to that, they’ve been mentioned in a number of magazines with their fair share of awards.
Creative Approach to Design:
Summerour Architects (SA) prides themselves in their creativity by creating homes that are in tune with the area in which the home is built and the way that people live today. He tends to gravitate towards agrarian architecture—which in the South, he describes as a wooden barn, whereas in Italy, it’s stone and in France, it’s stone and wood. The best part of choosing to work with SA is that they don’t focus on building the biggest, most impressive home on the lake. Instead, they start their design process with the land because they believe that a home should grow out of the land in which its built, not just inserted.
